GodMode, as in previous versions of Microsoft’s operating system, is also present in the latest version of Windows 10. It gives access to many settings and functions that are usually hidden. To activate this area, you only need to create a folder named: GodMode. {ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}

By creating a dedicated folder, you will have access to over forty different categories of settings, divided into subcategories. Of course, it is worth remembering that the number of settings, as in previous versions, may differ depending on the equipment. To use God Mode in Windows 10, you must have administrator rights on your computer.

Setting default actions for all external media

This feature has been known in Windows for generations, and for sure every user of this operating system has noticed its work. It is enough to connect any USB storage medium to the computer or, for example, place a CD / DVD or Blu-ray disc in the optical drive tray. The operating system will automatically detect the media provided by the user and offer any action – this is the autoplay mechanism. You can easily control this feature using the unlocked list using God Mode.

The corresponding tasks related to the autorun function are placed at the top of the list (it is sorted alphabetically by category / task group names). The list of settings related to the autoplay function is quite long, because the number of devices and media, as well as possible actions, is quite large. At the top, by default, there is a check box Use autoplay for all media and devices. If you do not want the system to automatically perform some actions after connecting, for example, a USB flash drive or inserting a disc into an optical drive, first uncheck this box. In this case, you can use the autoplay function only for a certain type of device. By expanding the list next to a specific type of media, you can select one of the available actions that will be automatically performed when this type of device is detected by the operating system.

Fast disk pool management

God Mode also gives you quick access to disk space management. The operation of this mechanism boils down to adding physical devices (hard drives, regardless of the interface – the mechanism supports drives: Serial ATA, SAS, SCSI and media connected via a USB port), the so-called storage pools. Thus, specific storage pools are a group of physical hard drives that have their capacity combined into a single storage space. This makes it possible to protect your data from failures and increase the storage memory size.

Setting up printer sharing

Using the unlocked “GodMode” example, you can also easily share a USB-connected printer to one of the computers with all other computers on the network. To create a homegroup, you use a step-by-step wizard that walks you through the steps of creating a homegroup, making it easy to connect and share different devices and data. After completing the wizard, the contents of the activated task window will change. Information about the currently available items (Printers and Devices) will be displayed.

After connecting a second computer to the homegroup, you can add a printer using the standard device and printer control panel module. The system will automatically search for available printers on the network. After a moment, the name of the shared printer should appear in the wizard, after which you need to follow the further suggestions of the built-in instructions. If you repeat this operation on each computer connected to the same network, you will be able to print from each one to a single printer physically connected to a single computer. Remember that printer sharing also works when the computer the printer is connected to goes to sleep, but a complete shutdown will also disable sharing.

Changing system sounds

If users are concerned about system sounds, they can be easily turned off or changed by clicking on the option to change system sounds through God Mode. To change the default sound scheme, click the Sound Scheme box and select any item. This will assign new sounds to all events. Their melody can be heard immediately by clicking the “Check” button. Click OK to save your changes.

It’s easy to assign a sound to the selected action, just select an event in the Program Events field and click the Browse button. We point to a sound file with the .wav extension, and then click the “Open” button. Then confirm the changes by clicking the OK button in the sound window.

Recovering files using file history

To recover files from an external drive, just select the option in God Mode “Recover files using file history”. If you created it on a different computer, you can configure it on the new computer and select the drive that previously had the data history. In this case, the new computer will see both the current one and the history previously created on another computer. Thus, you can recover information from both, as if the history of files from the old computer was created on the current one.

The interface allows you to view and restore previously backed up files. Just select the data folders you want to recover. You can view the file by right-clicking it. To restore a file or folder, click the green button in the center of the bottom panel.
If there are multiple backups of your data that were created at different times, you can use the left / right arrow keys to select one of them, or just click on it.

The Windows system is made up of many different files. Some of them may be damaged by computer operation, such as a power outage or disk error. In most cases, the system will not be able to notice the problem until it takes advantage of them, and this will bring up the screen of death. The option to troubleshoot BSOD problems through Godmode allows you to manually run an integrity check on system files. It may take some time, especially if the computer has a free disk. If Widows detects a problem with any of the files, it tries to fix it automatically.

Change mouse settings

You can also quickly simplify your mouse operation with God Mode. By clicking on this option, a window immediately appears in front of the user with parameters that can be adjusted for himself. In a small window, you can select the size of the mouse cursor from normal to huge, and its color. You can use one of the system cursors, your own or downloaded from the Internet. You can also enable mouse pointer control. In the additional window it is possible to adjust the speed of the pointer movement and control using the keyboard, customize the operation of the buttons and the wheel.

Customizing the taskbar

After choosing the option to release and pin the taskbar, the control panel settings window opens, where you can easily and simply adjust everything.

• In the window that opens, you can change the position of the taskbar, its size, color.
• Automatically hide the dashboard in desktop mode to get a complete picture of everything you’re working on.
• Apply small buttons if the monitor is small. This saves a lot of space and you can add more app icons and folders to the taskbar.
• Show notifications as an icon on taskbar buttons, this is useful for applications such as email where you need to check if there is a new email.
• Use taskbar across multiple displays. No additional software is required for this.

Installing new themes and screensavers

You can select Other Internet Themes from the menu to change the theme and screen saver. This option makes it possible to replace the standard theme with a new, more interesting one, where there are interesting graphics, beautiful landscapes and other options. Some themes may be paid. If you are not ready to pay, use free templates. To make the color of the taskbar and other elements more appropriate, click on the “Color” button and choose the one that will match your theme.

Data Recovery from Windows 7 to Windows 10

Backup and Restore allows you to avoid reinstalling your system in the event of a Windows crash. To do this, the user needs to make a backup copy of the system settings, the so-called restore point, if it was not created in advance. After that, all that needs to be done is to tell the system to restore data from the selected point. It is also a great solution to create a rescue disk (CD or DVD) that you can use to start your computer in the event of a serious failure if the computer does not boot. This can be done from Control Panel by selecting “Backup / Restore” and clicking “Create System Restore Disc”.
