Error 0x8004e10e prevents you from updating programs in the Windows Store. It all started after installing a new update from Microsoft. I tried restarting my computer and running the “troubleshooter” (is that what it’s called?), But nothing worked. Can you help? Of course, it’s not critical to me, everything works without updates, but it’s somehow tense all the same.
Some Windows 10 users are complaining about the error 0x8004e10e appearing in the Microsoft Store (Windows Store). The error can be seen when installing fresh updates for certain UWP applications. Typically, this problem occurs after installing updates for Windows 10.

How to fix error 0x8004e10e in Windows Store?

# 1 Run the troubleshooter
The message above said that the system troubleshooter did not resolve the error in the Microsoft Store. Nevertheless, this situation has developed only for one user: perhaps, in your case, everything will be different. To run the Microsoft Store troubleshooter on your PC, you need to do the following:
- press the WIN + I combination on the keyboard to bring up the “Parameters” window in front of you;
- go to the “Update and Security” section, then – to the “Troubleshooting” subsection;
- go down the window and click on the item “Additional troubleshooting tools”;
- find the Windows Store Apps tool in the list and select it with LMB;
- now click on the “Run the troubleshooter” button and follow the further instructions on the screen.
Open Windows Store and check for error 0x8004e10e.
# 2 Installing available updates
It is quite common for the Windows Store to refuse to work properly if a number of specific updates from Microsoft are missing from the user’s system. Installing updates is not a quick process, but it is necessary if you want to use applications from the Windows Store. To start updating your Windows 10 OS, you need to do the following:
- press WIN + I to open the “Options” window, then go to the “Update and Security” section;
- select the subsection “Windows Update” and click on the “Check for Updates” button;
- wait until the process of updating your system is completed and restart your PC if it is not done automatically.
If you haven’t updated your Windows 10 for a long time, then the error 0x8004e10e will almost certainly disappear from the Windows Store.
# 3 Restore system files
Problems with the Windows Store and its apps can result from damage to certain system files, component store, or even the Windows 10 image in general. Fortunately, the user can repair damaged parts of their system using useful utilities such as SFC and DISM.
- Right-click on the Start menu and select “Command line (administrator)” (alternative: WIN + R → CMD → CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER);
- insert the command “sfc / scannow” into the console that appears and press ENTER;
- wait for the SFC to finish and restart the PC;
- call the Command Prompt again (with administrator privileges!);
- run the commands “DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / CheckHealth”, “DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / ScanHealth” and “DISM / Online / Cleanup-Image / RestoreHealth” in the console;
- wait until all commands are completed and restart the PC again.
Error 0x8004e10e will surely stop pestering you in the Windows store if SFC and DISM find and fix any damage in Windows 10.
# 4 WSReset.exe to reset the Windows Store cache
Another reason for the error 0x8004e10e to appear is a corrupted Windows Store cache. WSReset.exe is a special system utility whose task is to completely reset the Windows Store application. During the reset, the application cache is also deleted. To use WSReset.exe, you need to do the following:
- press WIN + R on the keyboard to bring up the Run dialog box;
- insert the value “WSReset.exe” into a blank line of the window and press ENTER;
- wait a few seconds (or minutes) until the Windows store window appears in front of you;
- close the store window and restart your PC.
Check for the problem as soon as you gain control of the system.
# 5 Re-registering Windows Store
If your Windows store stops working normally, displays various errors, or does not open at all, then it’s time for you to start re-registering it in the operating system. It sounds like something serious and difficult, but it is not at all true. Here’s what you need to do on your PC:
- press the WIN + S combination on the keyboard to call the system search engine;
- write the query “PowerShell” and press CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER;
- paste the command “Get-AppXPackage * WindowsStore * -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml”} ”and press ENTER;
- close the PowerShell window and restart your computer.
Once logged in, open the Windows Store and check for error 0x8004e10e.
