Fallout 76 has a lot of various bugs, which is why the game was heavily criticized by players. The real reason for the crash is the game is being blocked by a firewall. Typically, the Windows security system asks the user whether to allow or block the application. Due to a failure, the error window does not appear or is displayed with a long delay, after entering the game itself. In both cases, the player does not notice the firewall notification, because it appears under the game window. After an emergency closure of the application, the notification closes with it.
If the firewall blocked Fallout 76 in total until the user’s decision, just minimize the window and click on the “Allow” item in the defender window. This is the simplest solution and helps half the time. Some users have reported that the firewall is not displayed when starting the game for the first time. If Fallout 76 does not respond to the buttons and there is no notification, you can try restarting the game 2-3 times.
The firewall may never ask for permission to run Fallout 76, or the user accidentally chooses “Block”. In both cases, you will have to manually open the firewall setting and allow Fallout 76 to work.
