The SESSION_HAS_VALID_POOL_ON_EXIT error reports problems with the pool of valid sessions. Also, in some cases, the code 0x000000AB is displayed. The main reasons include insufficient hard disk space for the system to function properly and software and OS compatibility issues. In addition, faulty drivers, damaged or deleted files can become a trigger that causes this message.

The solution to the problem may be to install Windows updates or vice versa – to roll back to the previous patch. But since the reasons for the failure can be different, there are several methods for troubleshooting. You can also say for sure that the error is not related to malware. Below are the methods, one of which will help in a given situation.

Solution 1: use the built-in troubleshooter

The first step in fixing the SESSION_HAS_VALID_POOL_ON_EXIT error is to diagnose and troubleshoot with the built-in Windows tool.

1. Right-click on the Windows icon and select Control Panel.
2. Go to the Troubleshooting section.
3. Select Troubleshoot with Windows Update.
4. Click the Next button and wait for the scan to finish.
5. After fixing the problems, restart the system.

Solution 2. Update your drivers

Often, the problem lies in outdated drivers, which should be updated from time to time, as they do not always receive new patches when the system is restarted.

1. Go to Device Manager by right-clicking on the Windows icon.
2. Expand the Display adapters directory.
3. Click on the RMB driver and click update.
4. Next, select Search automatically for reinstalled drivers.
5. Wait for the updates to install.
6. Do the same for each driver in this section.
7. Expand the rest of the directories and check for files marked with an exclamation point in the yellow triangle.
8. If any, they also need to be updated.
9. After completing all installations, restart your computer.

Solution 3: Use SFC scan

The SFC scan is another system tool that can fix many problems.

1. Right-click on the Windows icon and select Command Prompt (Admin).
2. In the window that opens, type the command: sfc / scannow and press Enter.
3. The scanning process will take some time, after which the errors found will be fixed.
4. A system reboot will be required.

Solution 4: Troubleshoot compatibility issues

If an error occurs while trying to run a specific program, this is clearly a compatibility issue. Do the following:

1. Right-click on the shortcut of the problematic application, and select Properties.
2. Click the Compatibility tab.
3. Run the troubleshooter for this section.
4. Wait for the process to finish.

6. If not, try running the application in compatibility mode with previous versions of Windows.

1. Right-click on the Windows icon and select Control Panel.
2. Go to Windows Update.
3. On the right, click Check for New Versions.
4. Wait for the download and installation, if any.
5. Reboot your computer.

Solution 6: Run RAM diagnostics

Manual:

1. Right click on the Windows icon and select Administrative Tools.
2. Scroll down the list of tasks to the line Windows Memory Checker.
3. Double click on it with LMB.
4. In the window that opens, select Perform reboot and check.
5. Save all open documents and running applications before starting diagnostics.

Solution 7. Restore your system to a previous state

If none of the solutions described above gave a positive result, it makes sense to roll back the system to the previous state. This process will remove all applications and programs installed after the restore point. However, other files and saves will not be affected.

1. Go to the Control Panel again by right-clicking on the Windows icon.
2. Highlight the Recovery section and then Start System Restore.
3. In the next window, click Next.
4. Check Show other restore points.
5. Choose the best rollback date and click Next.
6. Follow the prompts from the system.
7. Upon completion of this process, the computer will restart and report the success of the operation.
