Apple without a doubt produces extremely high quality products, especially the iPhone – their best and only series of smartphones. However, at some point, some people may want to sell their old iPhone and switch to, for example, modern Android. Such a move is not easy, because a lot of important data remains on the old device.
Messages in the WhatsApp app are data from just such a category. Believe me, no one wants to lose correspondence with their friends or loved ones, switching to a new gadget. In our article, we will talk about how to transfer WhatsApp messages from iPhone to Android.
Transfer WhatsApp Messages from iPhone to Android
It is worth noting that on the Internet, you can find many articles and forum posts detailing strange and downright useless methods.
For example, some write that through the settings of Apple WhatsApp, you can create a backup copy of messages, and then, in some magical way, this copy will be found on Android when you enter the application with your number. However, do not forget that on the iPhone, such a backup is saved to iCloud, while Android has access only to Google Drive. Simply put, you will create a backup of messages, but it will remain hanging on iCloud. This method is only suitable for iPhone → iPhone.
But how then can you transfer WhatsApp messages from iPhone to Android? The answer is to resort to the services of third-party software or to export messages to e-mail. The latter, by the way, does not imply “real” synchronization: you just drop the correspondence with attached attachments to your mail so that you can later familiarize yourself with it on your Android device.
Export correspondence to email
Let’s start with the simplest and most optimal method for many users. To reset your WhatsApp messages to emails, do the following:
- open the Whatsapp application on your iPhone;
- go to the “Chats” tab and select the correspondence you need;
- then click on the name of the contact in the application header;
- in the list of actions that opens, click on “Export chat”;
- now choose one of two options: attach media files or not;
- choose to send messages to e-mail (email);
- enter your mail and click on the “Send” button.
Done. Now you need to open the mailbox on your Android device and find the message sent from the iPhone. You can mark this letter as important so that it does not get lost among other letters.
Third party software
Now let’s talk about third-party software – a whole bunch of them! It’s up to you to decide what to use. Anyway, now we will show you an example of transferring messages from WhatsApp using the program WhatsApp Transfer, Backup & Restore from dr.fone.
WhatsApp Transfer, Backup & Restore is a paid program, however it has a full month trial, which is more than enough. What you need:
- iPhone and Android;
- a pair of USB cables;
- Windows computer;
- the latest version of iTunes.
That’s right, unfortunately, you can’t do without a PC. So, do the following:
- go to official website for WhatsApp Transfer, Backup & Restore, download the program and install it on your computer;
- run the program and in the window that appears, click on the “Transfer WhatsApp messages” option;
- then connect your iPhone and Android using USB cables (do not forget to enable debugging mode!) to the computer;
- the devices have been recognized by the program – click on the “Transfer” button;
- in the next dialog box, agree to delete the correspondence from Android and click “Yes”;
- now wait for the transfer of WhatsApp messages from iPhone to Android to complete.
At the end of the WhatsApp Transfer transfer process, Backup & Restore will display a message in front of you. As you can see, everything is very simple. Problems can arise only at the stage of connecting devices to a PC. We check our USB ports and be sure to (!) Update iTunes to the latest version.
