How to make a video

To record a movie with Retrica, you must update your Retrica to the latest version. (Download here)

To take a video, press and hold the big black button at the bottom of the screen. You can take a video up to 10 seconds long.

Unfortunately, however, this feature is not available on all devices. Please check if your device supports video functions.

Why are Retrica photos at low resolution?

On Android, Retrica photo resolution is based on storage capacity. In order to avoid problems with the memory of your device, the photo resolution may be low. Check with your device manufacturer for additional storage capacity.

In May, Retrica released a new version 3.0, which allows you to select the resolution of photos taken with the Retrica camera.

Why did Retrica save photos in the Gallery, and not in the application itself, as before?

Starting from random since version 2.4 Retrica saves photos in the phone’s Gallery in order to protect them from being deleted or lost.

In the case of saving photos in the application itself, there is no backup of your photos. Hence, if you accidentally delete the app from your device, you will lose all photos. Since we have received many emails asking to recover their lost photos, we decided that saving your photos in the Gallery of your device would be the best solution.

Retrica iOS black screen

One of the reasons for the black screen on your phone may be that you have not given permission in the phone settings to the Retrica app to use your camera.

To solve this problem, you need:

  1. Go to the settings of your device
  2. Find “Retrica” in the list
  3. Authorize the camera

How do I turn off the camera sound?

In the Retrica app you can mute / unmute the camera.

*** In some countries, such as South Korea and Japan, you cannot mute the camera due to legal restrictions.

I cannot save changes to settings

How can I save photos to external drives (SD cards)?

Unfortunately, saving photos from the Retrica application to external drives is not possible.

What is the difference between Retrica and Retrica Pro?

Retrica Pro was an ad-free version of the app. In February 2016, Retrica Pro was removed from the Appstore, as in December 2015, Retrica was completely released without ads and paid filters.

Is there a Retrica app for Windows phones?

Can I recover deleted photos in Retrica?

We are unable to help you recover your deleted photos.

Retrica is not responsible for the loss / deletion of your photos, because all photos are saved in your phone’s Gallery. (Retrica does not save photos on its server)

Please be careful when deleting photos or applications from your device. We recommend using a file backup service from your OS, such as iCloud from Google Photo.

Can I take a photo using the volume button on my device? (for Selfie stick)

For some phones, Retrica provides the ability to use the volume buttons to take a selfie with a stick.

Can I zoom in / out (Zoom Lens)?

Unfortunately, Retrica does not yet provide this option for photography.

My favorite filter is no longer in the Retrica app

With the new updated Retrica 2.9, some similar filters have been removed from the application. We are working on creating new filters for you, so stay tuned and enjoy the app!

I cannot edit photos from the App Gallery / I cannot import photos from the App Gallery

After the updated version 3.0, due to the fact that Retrica no longer provides the ability to save photos in the application itself, users cannot edit photos from the Gallery of the application.

To edit photos from the Retrica app, you must move all the photos from the App Gallery to your phone’s Gallery and reinstall the app.

  1. Open the App Gallery.
  2. Select all the photos and move them to the Phone Gallery.
  3. Open the Phone Gallery and check if you have all the photos imported from the application.
  4. If you don’t find any problems, uninstall the app and reinstall it. (Make sure all your photos have been moved to the Phone Gallery, as uninstalling the app will remove all your photos from the App Gallery.)
  5. You now have access to all the photos from the Retrica application in the Gallery of your phone.

Blurry photos after the updated version

We found that there is a problem with photo quality on some devices. We are currently working on a solution to this problem. Until then, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Update the app to version 3.0.8
  2. Open Settings -> Photo Quality
  3. Make sure optimization is enabled.

My Retrica app is too slow

If your application is slow, we advise you to lower the quality of your photos.

  1. Open Settings
  2. Select “Photo Quality”
  3. Disable “Optimization”
  4. Change the quality of the front or rear camera to a lower quality.

How to take a photo normally without a filter?

There is no normal mode for photography (no filter mode) in the Retrica app. However, this result can be achieved by lowering any filter by 0%. Instructions are provided below:

  1. Choose a filter
  2. Do you see a thin line at the bottom of the screen?
  3. With it, you can adjust the filter percentage for the photo.

Why do we need your personal information?

1) Why do we need your phone number?

  • To register for our new service in the app, you must make a confirmation (a code that will be sent to your phone number).
  • So that your friends can find you on our service.

2) Why do we need your email address?

  • In case you forget your password, it will be sent to your email.
  • After the Deactivation function has been developed, we will notify you via your email.
