Greetings, tankers! With you Wotpack and taking into account the specifics of our site for the game World of Tanks, for the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, we decided to recall the Soviet tanks that made the greatest contribution to the victory.

Light tanks

A technique worth mentioning here is technically obsolete by the start of the war, but was forced to give the first rebuff to the German troops:

  • T-18 (aka in the game MS-1)
  • T-26
  • BT-2
  • BT-5
  • BT-7
  • T-37A
  • T-38

This technique was produced from 1927 to 1936.

Since 1942 entered production T-70, whose glory culminated in participation in the Battle of the Kursk Bulge… Then they gradually began to abandon light tanks, but still some were used until the end of the war. This car became the fourth in the number of copies produced during the war, 8,231 units.

Medium tanks

One of the main symbols of the Patriotic War, who became the hero of many battles – the famous “Thirty-four”… Many tank experts recognized him as the best CT of the Second World War. One of the aspects of his success and popularity was andperfect balance between:

  • combat power;
  • technological characteristics;
  • exploitation.

In any weather and on any terrain, he was always ready for battle. Repairs were less labor-intensive than those of heavy tanks, and production was much cheaper and took less time.

This series of tanks continued to improve over the war years, primarily increasing the fire potential by increasing the caliber of the gun:

  • T-34-57
  • T-34-76
  • T-34-85

In total, over 80,000 units were produced during the war years. It was the last model that was part of the guards corps and received a new 3D-style “Kantemirovets” in the game.

Also from 1944 production began T-44, but it became widespread, since the priority was the production of the T-34-85.



Heavy tanks

Speaking of this class, one cannot fail to mention tanks KV series (Klim Voroshilov)… He was able to surprise the German troops with high protection, sometimes single-handedly destroying significantly superior enemy forces. Many players know medal “Kolobanov”, but the feat of the crew was accomplished on the KV-1, when he single-handedly destroyed 22 German tanks… The tankers did their duty – not to miss the enemy equipment, but after prolonged battles on the Kolobanov tank, they counted over 100 hits.

IS-2 became one of the most powerful and heavily armored tanks in the USSR during the war period and one of the strongest in the world of tank building. They played an important role at the final stage of the 1944-45 war. Participated in the storming of such cities:

  • Budapest, Hungary);
  • Breslau (Poland);
  • Berlin, Germany).

They were part of the Guards Tank Regiment. A new PvE event in WoT “Road to Berlin” with the main award of the IS-2 Shielded tank is dedicated to this particular vehicle.

Tank destroyer

This type of technology began to be used in the Soviet army relatively late., since about 1942. The first representative was SU-76, one of the most massive in its class (14,292 pieces manufactured). This self-propelled gun was very fond of the soldiers for its mobility, it managed everywhere to cover and support the infantry units with fire and tracks.

SU-122 was used for direct fire, mainly to support tanks, destroying everything in its path that could interfere with the offensive.

SU-85 and SU-100 differed not only in the caliber of the gun, but also in good mobility, since they were created on the basis of the ST T-34. SU-85 confidently fought against medium tanks and even the Tigers, but only at a distance of up to 500 meters.

To the appearance of more armored vehicles in the German army, Soviet engineers responded by creating SU-100… It is this tank destroyer played a key role in the last major defensive operation of the USSR in the area of ​​Lake Balton… This was the last attempt by Germany to launch a large-scale tank offensive in March 1945, which ended with colossal losses among German equipment.

Also contributed heavy tank destroyers:

  • SU-152 on the Kursk Bulge effectively exterminated new German heavy weapons and artillery.
  • ISU-152 It was successfully used in the second half of the war, strengthening the tank units of the breakthrough along the entire front.
  • ISU-122 and ISU-122S were actively used at the final stages of World War II, destroying enemy tanks and taking on the role of an assault weapon. It was these models that became the most effective “St. John’s wort”, leaving no chance for the German Tigers and Panthers.

We tried not to overload the details of tank building, so we did not focus on some of the technical features. Finally, we would like to return to the WoT topic. Some players were unhappy that the premier tank is level 7, and the new style is only for the pumped six. We would like to draw your attention to the fact that play is primarily a source of pleasure… If you ride only on imbovy tanks for the sake of bending and numbers, then the main meaning of the game is a little lost.

Personally, I experienced pleasure playing the T-34, T-34-85, SU-122-44, T-54 at one time. In the Hangar I now hold the T-100 LT, Object 277, T-34-85 Rudy, LT-432 and Object 703 II.
