A few days ago, Fallout 76 Wastelanders went into release – a brand new update for the original Fallout 76, released back in October 2018. Thanks to this update, NPCs have finally appeared in the game – and you can even conduct dialogues with them in the style of classic Fallout! Also, do not forget about the heaps of new factions, weapons, events and daily tasks, items, enemies and more.
Of course, the developers at Bethesda were responsible for the development of Fallout 76 Wastelanders, and therefore the players faced a ton of technical issues. Errors 4: 8: 2009 and 3: 0: 7, black screens, low FPS and brakes, crashes at launch – this and many others now have to be tolerated by the players in the Fallout 76 Wastelanders update.
In this short guide, we’ll take a look at how you can fix the most common problems with Fallout 76 Wastelanders. However, first of all, you need to familiarize yourself with the system requirements for the original Fallout 76. In appearance, you can not tell, but this toy requires a fairly productive machine for its work.

Fallout 76 Wastelanders error 4: 8: 2009
Some players claim that they have an error with the code 4: 8: 2009 in Fallout 76. The error message states that the free game period has ended and that the full version must be purchased. Of course, error 4: 8: 2009 is a ridiculous bug and you don’t need to buy the game again. Go to C: Users [ИМЯ УЧЕТНОЙ ЗАПИСИ] Documents My Games and completely delete the folder called “Fallout 76”. Restart your PC and try logging into Fallout 76 again. Now error 4: 8: 2009 shouldn’t bother you.
Fallout 76 Wastelanders error 3: 0: 7
3: 0: 7 is another mistake that Fallout 76 Wastelanders players have to deal with. It usually occurs when you log into your Bethesda account. The reason is an active firewall on the user’s computer. Simply put, to get rid of the 3: 0: 7 error, you need to go to your firewall settings (system or third-party) and add Fallout 76 to the list of exceptions. After that the error 3: 0: 7 should disappear immediately.
Fallout 76 Wastelanders crashes on launch
Another problem with Fallout 76 is the frequent crashes on launch. In some cases, Fallout 76 completely refuses to react at all when the player tries to launch it. Fortunately, there are currently known methods that can help solve this problem. To get rid of crashes in Fallout 76, you can:
- install all versions of Microsoft Visual Studio C ++ on your system;
- activate the option “Disable full screen optimization” in the properties of Fallout76.exe;
- run Fallout76 in compatibility mode with another version of Windows;
- disable installed antivirus and firewall (they can block Fallout76.exe by mistake);
- disable MSI Afterburner, GeForce Experience and other similar software;
- install all available updates for your Windows (if you are using “seven”, be sure to install the update KB2533623!).
Low FPS and lags in Fallout 76 Wastelanders
Arguably Fallout 76’s biggest problem is its terrible optimization. Low frame rates, slowdowns and lags are already common things in the vast multiplayer post-nuclear wasteland. To make Fallout 76 work at least more or less “normally”, try the following:
- make sure your PC has an up-to-date version of the video driver;
- disable all unnecessary programs running in the background;
- Connect your laptop to an electrical outlet and select a high-performance power plan;
- deactivate vertical sync in the graphical settings of Fallout 76;
- try running the game in full screen mode instead of in a borderless window.
Black of black screen in the Fallout 76 Wastelanders
When you launch Fallout 76, there is a chance that … nothing at all will appear in front of you: you will be staring at a black screen. However, some sounds from the game will still be heard in the background. As soon as you encounter a black screen, press Alt + Enter to put the game in windowed mode – this should fix the visibility issues. Open the game’s graphics settings, set it to full screen, but choose a different resolution, especially if you’ve tried to run Fallout 76 in a non-native resolution before.
