Dark mode is a popular feature that more and more developers are building into their apps. It is a pre-installed theme in Android 10. Older versions of the OS only have to rely on the extended functionality of the software. Instagram is one of the latest apps to receive dark mode integration.
Previously, Twitter, YouTube and Messenger followed this path, now it is the turn of Instagram. This social network is extremely popular in Russia and not only, therefore its developers are at the front of trends. Night mode allows you to enjoy a more eye-pleasing theme that is less stressful in the dark. An additional plus is the ability to save battery power, but the bonus is inherent only in Amoled and OLED screens.
Instagram’s new dark mode is rolling out to iOS 13, Android 10 and Android Pie today.
How to enable Instagram Night Mode on Android?
It would be most reasonable to consider the features of activating the function for each version of the OS separately.
On Android 10
The procedure is extremely simple, even children can perform it. To activate the dark theme in Instagram on Android 10, you need:
- Go to “Settings”.
- Open the “Display” section.
- Click on “Dark Mode” to activate it.
Launch the Instagram app, it will automatically switch to using the night theme.
On Android 9
Before starting the procedure, you need to find out which version of the application is installed on the phone. A minimum of v114.0.0.0.38.120 is required for the manipulation to produce the desired result. If your smartphone has an older modification, you should use Google Play Market to update.
Algorithm of actions:
- Launch the Instragam app and click on your personal avatar in the lower right corner.
- Go to “Settings” through the button in the upper right corner and select the item of the same name from the drop-down menu.
- Click on the “Themes” option and select “Dark”.
Another option is applicable for users who have a smartphone with a dark theme from the shell. In this case, it is enough to follow the steps described for Android 10. Most likely, Instagram will detect the change in mode, and will automatically switch the application to use the night theme.
Now this option is not active for all users, because it is in beta testing. However, if everything goes smoothly, Instagram will launch a mode for all users with one of the next updates.
