The first time you run into the com.google.process.location error, it might surprise you a lot. The fact is that such an error appears spontaneously, regardless of which application you are in at the moment and what background processes are running on your device. Above all windows on your device, a message will be displayed stating that “the com.google.process.location process has been stopped” and after that this message will continue to appear regularly, creating a lot of discomfort when using a smartphone or tablet. In this manual, we will tell you how to eliminate such an error and what to do if it suddenly appears again in the future.
What exactly triggered this error, we did not manage to find out, since almost all users have it under various circumstances. Google itself does not provide any specific explanations for this error. That is why I had to look for a way to eliminate this problem on my own. Below we describe in detail how you can resolve the “com.google.process.location process stopped” error.
How do I get rid of the com.google.process.location error message?
First of all, we recommend activating all programs that were disabled at the time of the error for one reason or another. In most cases, this can help. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open your device’s Settings and go to the Applications category.
- Click the Disabled tab to see all applications and processes that are currently disabled.
- Try to enable disabled applications and utilities, and then restart the device.
If this method proved to be ineffective in your particular case, follow these steps:
- Go to Apps in your device’s Settings.
- Open the full list of applications and find the google.process.location process among them.
- Open its property sheet and click the Clear cache button.
- After that, we recommend restarting your smartphone or tablet.
There are situations in which the second method does not help either. In this case, you should move on to the last and most radical method. It will be useful in any case and will give a positive result, but since it implies a complete erasure of data, we strongly recommend that you make a full backup before proceeding with its execution.
Back up all important data, files and folders, as well as data that may be stored inside applications. Be sure to copy them to external media, as the memory card of your device will be cleared.
Contacts, calendars and notes can be synced to your Goolge account. Make sure all the necessary checkboxes are checked in the sync settings.
After that, do the following:
- Go to Device Settings.
- At the very end of the list of categories of settings, look for the item Backup and reset.
- Click the Reset settings button and wait for the device to fully reboot and turn it back on.
- Then restore all data from backups and install applications from Google Play.
