If you are constantly experiencing slow download speeds on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita gaming platforms, there is an easy way to fix it by changing your DNS settings. Everything is really simple and will take you 5 minutes at most.
So, how to increase your download speed on PS4 and PS3:
one. Press the PlayStation button;
2… Select the Settings menu;
3. Next – Network;
four. Set Up Internet Connection;
five. Choose Wi-Fi or LAN, depending on how your set-top box connects to the Internet;
6. Choose from two menus – “Custom”;
7. Then click on “Manual”;
eight. Now, depending on your settings and understanding of the DNS setup process itself, you can choose on the screen the option to manually configure the connection or automatically. This includes the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and so on. After you get to the DNS settings, enter in the address of the Primary DNS server (Primary) and secondary (Secondary) one (of your choice) from the following:
Google DNS address – Primary: 8.8.8.8, Secondary: 8.8.4.4
OpenDNS – address – Primary: 208.67.222.222, Secondary: 208.67.220.220
Attention: in any case, do not mix the address numbers with each other. For example, you cannot specify Primary DNS Google along with a secondary address from OpenDNS etc.
nine. After entering the selected DNS, complete the settings displayed on the screen to the end, and confirm the changes by performing an Internet connection test. Then try downloading something to check the difference in download speed.
