The background can be very bad for your reputation and even play a cruel joke in employment. Naturally, we do not want anyone to see our place of work or our cleaning skills during a business conference. Did the sudden call take you by surprise? Don’t be scary, Skype will help you automatically blur the background during a video call. The function is completely “fresh”, it appeared this week.
The system will help solve the problem with clutter and eliminate background noise from everyday life on its own. All this will be hidden behind a soft blurring of the background. Previously, this effect could only be achieved with an expensive camera. The function of focusing on a person first appeared in one of the Microsoft software back in 2018 and finally it reached Skype. To start using it, please update Skype.
Do you prefer to use the mobile version of Skype? – You’re out of luck, there is still no information about the implementation of the function in mobile Skype.
How do I get started using background blur in Skype?
Microsoft developers report that the blur effect is AI-powered. The system is so smart that it understands all the contours of the body: hair, hands, etc. It does not blur any parts of the body during communication.
It’s very easy to start using the function:
- Click on the subscriber call.
- During the call, hover the cursor over the camera image (located at the bottom of the screen) and select “Blur background”.
Second way to activate the new function:
- Click with the right mouse button on the camera image in the (upper right corner).
- Select the option from the drop-down list “Blur my background”.
Another method:
- Click on the beginning of a video call with any of the contacts.
- Click on the gear image (upper right corner), this opens a menu with video and sound settings.
- Click on the menu item “Blur my background”.
Microsoft does not guarantee that absolutely the entire background will be blurred. In this regard, we would recommend not to leave any suspicious objects in sight during the conversation.
What is your opinion on the function? Are you planning to use background blur?
